![]() ![]() By the time the series reaches its conclusion and Naruto becomes the Hokage, you believe it because you’ve seen him make the steps necessary to get there. It’s great to see Naruto achieve these little victories and gain the respect of his peers and recognition from people that matter, not just within his village, but in the larger world. It’s straightforward and attainable, and we see him making progress toward his goal throughout the series. His goal isn’t some nebulous or hard-to-define idea like other shonen protagonists have. In order to do so, he needs to become a ninja and go on missions with his fellow peers, train with various mentor figures, and fight against a group of evil ninjas called the Akatsuki, who wish to utilize the monster inside of Naruto for their own evil purposes. Since then, Naruto has been hated by the population, so Naruto desires to try to live up to his father’s legacy and become not only accepted by Konoha but also the village’s Hokage. His body houses a nine-tailed fox demon that not only destroyed the village but also killed his father, the leader of the village (the Hokage), who sacrificed his life to seal the monster within his own son’s body. If you’re unaware of the series, Naruto is the story of Naruto Uzumaki, an outcast child in the village of Konoha. That makes it as good a time as any to look back at the entire Naruto series, to dissect elements good and bad worth examining - including some parts that make me fervently refuse to ever engage with the series again. This week marks the 16th anniversary of the release of Naruto: Shippuden, the series that most people tend to associate with the franchise. Since it premiered in the West in 2005 on Toonami, most anime fans of the 2000s have grown to love Naruto, its world, its cast, and its themes. It’s one of the bestselling manga series in history and one of the longest-running anime ever if you want to combine it with its various spinoffs. It’s almost impossible to talk about the industry and the medium itself without mentioning the franchise and its main character. This filler episode is one of the most important of the series without Sasuke’s building resentment over his perceived failure against Naruto, the events of the main story would never happen.Naruto. After Naruto notices Sasuke cracked Aoi’s Sword of the Thunder God, he aims a Rasengan for the crack and ultimately defeats Aoi. Sasuke uses Chidori against Aoi but fails Aoi adds insult to injury by mocking Sasuke and the Uchiha clan in general, ultimately throwing Sasuke off a bridge when he attempts Chidori again. Naruto and Sasuke battle Aoi, who aims to prevent Idate from completing the race, and the two find the battle more difficult than they would have anticipated. This is the final episode in the Land of Tea Escort Mission Arc, finishing up a mission where Team Seven is hired to accompany the young Idate, a former Konoha genin, who is in a race on behalf of his adopted family, the Waasabi clan of the Land of Tea. The Last Leg: A Final Act of Desperation (Episode 106) Image via Crunchyroll Naruto is often criticized for how it depicts its romantic subplots, and here we get some rare insight into how similar Hinata and her future husband’s mindsets are.Ĥ. She shows how strong her work ethic is when she debuts a new technique - Protective Eight Trigrams 64 Palms -she’s been perfecting in order to earn the respect of her fellow ninja, particularly Naruto. Hinata is presumed dead for a short while, and before Naruto gets a chance to get violent, Hinata reappears and single-handedly takes on three shinobi and their swarm of bees. Things start off pretty badly for the characters in this episode Shino, Kiba, and Naruto are captured by the Kamizuri clan after being trapped in a beehive. For a relatively prominent character, Hinata gets few chances to actually show off how cool she is, so it’s nice to see her in action.
